Visitors to the exhibition Chihuly at the de Young witnessed the working relationship between Dale Chihuly and his studio team. This film captures the artist’s belief in the importance of a collaborative team and the significance this interaction plays in exhibition preparation. Chihuly at the de Young took more than two years to plan, create, and execute — making it Chihuly’s most ambitious exhibition to date. It was comprised of thirteen installations, requiring more than 1,000 boxes transported by six semi-trucks. In the end, more than 400,000 people viewed the exhibition over a fifteen-week period, resulting in record attendance numbers for both the institution and the artist. From Seattle to San Francisco, this film portrays one of Chihuly’s foremost goals: showing his work to the public sector.
