'Try' is the true, inspirational story of three talented U.S. rugby players who sacrifice it all for the chance to represent their country in the world's third most watched sporting event-the Rugby World Cup. As amateurs pitted against the world's best professional squads, 'Try' takes you deep into the heart and mind of these true champions chasing their dream for a nation that seemingly doesn't even know their sport exists.
Dan Payne, a former amateur wrestler who came within seconds of realizing his Olympic dream, has one final chance to complete a pact he made with his brother to make the USA Rugby team and compete in the World Cup. Latu Puloka is an Iraq war veteran, whose best friend died in his arms after being ambushed while on patrol. His goal is to make the national squad in honor of his fallen friend and to give the military a much needed morale boost. Jarvis Albury, a brilliant athlete and vivacious personality who always looks to the future despite his tough past, has turned down lucrative opportunities with other professional sports for the chance to compete and represent his country in rugby on the sport's biggest international stage.
In today's capitalistic world, where the all-mighty dollar has infiltrated all aspects of life including the once honourable domain of Sports, 'TRY' is a refreshing look at three San Diego rugby players and their attempt to make The U.S Eagles, a group
of men who play the world's toughest brand.
