| It began in the Molecular Genetics Laboratory
at the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research in the University
of Cambridge. When London-based Russian producer Alexander Korobko
learned through his journalistic work that the instiute conducted
DNA analysis to discover genetic origins, he thought it might be interesting
to explore his own genes. Who would have imagined that providing a
sample of his Russian DNA would unlock a secret hidden for thousands
of years - the mystery of the Picts!!
In this inspiring documentary Alexander Korobko sets out on a journey
to Scotland's Orkney Islands winding back five thousand years to
a time when the relatives of his ancient ancestors reached the edge
of the world.
Fast-paced and shot in High Definition, the film is compelling.
Set against magnificent backdrops of islands and ocean, the combination
of history and archaeology with modern science and genetics to crack
an age-old conundrum brings together the classic ingredients of
a successful "discovery " program with universal appeal - as universal
as the question asked in its title: Who am I?
