Fitness as a Lifestyle: Colin chats with Dr. Lester Baskin about embracing choices in life that make us healthier and fit for life. He demonstrates the dumb bell press and introduces motion capture technology to show exactly what the body is doing during the exercise. The Healthy Heart: Ivan Rado shares his story of survival from a massive heart attack and Colin talks with Dr. Lynn Goldberg about all the simple things we can do to have a healthy and happy heart. We also meet Karen Pierce whose fitness routine has helped her live an active life for more than 20 years with a heart transplant. Joint Replacement: Colin discusses recovery from joint replacement surgery with Dr. Rick Buechel. We also meet Mary Hage, who at 88, has had both hips replaced and is doing just fine thank you. The Hamstring Stretch is critical to good balance. Healthy Weight: LaVerna Warren lost 85 pounds with just exercise and good nutrition and the best part is that she’s kept it off. She learned to do resistance training with Colin and is feeling and looking better at 63 than she has in 25 years. Dr. Lynn Goldberg discusses the many benefits of keeping our weight at a healthy level. Depression: Better to exercise when you’re down and depressed and get those endorphins going. Treatment of depression with exercise is discussed with Dr. David conant-Norville and we learn about the many positive ways that having a fitness routine can benefit our lives. Healthy Aging: Better than Botox, exercise and good nutrition will not only make you look better, but feel better as we age. Dr. Elizabeth Exkstrom discusses what a major part exercise and resistance training play in having an active life after 50. Fat Loss/Muscle Strength: Maintaining strength is critical to staying healthy and vital. Strength training doesn’t necessarily mean big muscles and can be very helpful in loosing and controlling weight. We learn how to do the “lateral raise” and the pectoral stretch along the way. Low Back Health: This is the most common complaint in the U.S. As we get older there are simple things we can do to overcome back pain and get back to an active and healthy life. Dr. Steve Anderson shares his insight with Colin and we learn how to do the quad stretch. Strength Training: No it doesn’t mean you have to join a gym or get a personal trainer. A simple fitness routine will incorporate cardiovascular exercise with strength training and the reward will be more energy, better sleep and a younger you. Healthy Bones: Weight bearing exercise is so important in maintaining strong and healthy bones. Dr. Bart Rask discusses simple ways to do just that. Never worked with weights? This is a great place to start and also learn the stretch that will keep your hips and upper thighs flexible and strong. Healthy Exercise: You’re never too old to exercise. It’s a good idea to see what’s safe to do if you haven’t been active for a while, but there’s no excuse not to get started NOW. Colin demonstrates some great ways to get going on the path to feeling younger and stronger. Blood Pressure: Exercise is the best medicine to keep that ole blood pressure in the healthy range. Dr. Lynn Goldberg is back to chat with Colin about all the things that are easy to incorporate into our daily lives to keep those numbers down. Healthy Pregnancy : Exercise is good for all women even when you’re pregnant. Colin chats with Dr. Kim Suriano about the do’s and don’ts and the many great benefits to the mother and child of exercising during pregnancy. Meghan joins us in her 9th month to do a dumb bell squat and lots and lots of walking.
